I have thoroughly enjoy being apart of this class. I am glad that I was able to take an African American Lit class. Though I am African American, or black, there are still aspect of history that I did not know about and this class brought them to light. I love how discussion was encouraged alot and we were free to voice our opinions and thoughts as we wished. We definitely had the right professor teaching this particular class. You new students, as well as your new school will be lucky to have you on their campus.
I agree with Leilani. The new school will definitely be greatful for a teacher that knows exactly what her subject matter is and can perfectly portray her thoughts to her students. In this class i have learned a lot of history about the African American life and I definitely will keep pursuing a lot of things we did not have time to cover in class. I can honestly say that this class has allowed me to appreciate my race more and has inspired to start research for writing my own. One poem that I connected with the most was “Yet Do I Marvel” by Cullen. We as humans pay too much attention to human standards when we should be focusing on the meaning of our life in which we make ourselves. This poem has made me realize that I’m my own worst enemy now. During the time that a lot of this literature was written, blacks didn’t have the opportunity that we have today. We can actually be as important as we wish, or as irrelevant as we want. Thanks and God bless Dr. Green.
